In a deeply moving interview that quickly devolved into a meme-a-thon, Bollywood perfectionist Aamir Khan revealed that his son, Junaid Khan, had dyslexia as a child. Instead of sympathy, the internet delivered shockingly what it does best: jokes, theories, and a Taare Zameen Par Part 2.
In a promotional interview for Junaid’s impending debut film, “Dilwale Dyslexic Le Jayenge,” Aamir got emotional and said, “Junaid had issues reading and writing as a child. I didn’t understand it at first… I used to shout at him and thought he was just getting distracted. I now understand that I was wrong.”
Seconds after the clip aired, fans flocked to X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram, and even Orkut revival groups (yes, those still float in weird corners of the internet) to provide a ton of theories and sarcastic retorts.
One person wrote:
“Junaid was born in 1993. Taare Zameen Par came in 2007. Aamir did a movie about dyslexia BEFORE he understood his son had it? Sir, are you good?”
“Breaking: Aamir Khan to play his conscience in the sequel: Ghajini 2 – Memory Lag for Parenting.”
“PAPA used to shout like Gabbar” – Junaid’s Imaginary Interview
In a fictitious interview which may or may not occurred (probably not) but we wish it did, Junaid was allegedly heard telling Filmfare:
“Every time I wouldn’t write B and D clearly, Papa would shout, ‘Beta, even Rancho could write!’ It was hard… especially during Lagaan when he would throw cricket balls at me randomly and say, ‘Chal, padho!’”
Psychologists we did not consult believe this could be used to explain Junaid’s phobia of chalkboards and math teachers.
A source close to the family claims that Kiran Rao, Aamir’s ex-wife and co-parent, rolled her eyes so far back at the comment that her sunglasses cracked.
“She said to friends, ‘Next, he’ll say Azad invented algebra.’”
Word is the Khan residence is looking to release a press note called “Clarification on Parenting Errors Based on Memory”, possibly ghostwritten by Rancho.
All these revelations took place mere days before Junaid’s major Bollywood launch which some skeptics argue is suspicious timing.
One user wrote:
“What happens next? Aamir claims Junaid was brought up by aliens, exclusively to launch PK 2: Papa Kya Hai Ye?”
In the meantime, some people believe that this is a creative way to market emotional baggage and relatability in advance of a film. As one user sarcastically commented:
“This is classic Bollywood: form trauma, sell tickets, cry at awards.”
Bollywood Celebs Respond:
Karan Johar: “Dyslexia is the new nepotism. Love that for us!”
Salman Khan: “Mereko bhi lagta hoon main left se right likhta hoon kabhi kabhi.”
Kangana Ranaut (from an undisclosed location): “This is all mafia drama, wait till I release Manikarnika 3: The Dyslexic Queen!”
Even though Aamir’s story did hit some heartstrings, it has also launched a thousand memes already. Whether true, embellished or simply, in his mind, creatively edited, fans are now 100% sure of one thing:
“When Aamir is saying something emotional… always check the trailer release date.”
