Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced a plan to introduce a Population Increase Tax. Yes, you heard it right. Parents having more than two children might soon need to pay an extra tax. While the plan aims to curb the country’s surging population, social media is already abuzz with memes and dramatic reactions.
Aap yeh kya keh rahi hain, Mataji?!
If this policy were a scene from a Hindi TV drama, it would open with a thunderclap, the camera zooming into Nirmala Ji’s face as she declares, “Bachhon ka kharcha uthana hoga, toh desh ka bhi khayal rakhna padega!”
The policy suggests that families exceeding two children will face additional taxes. For parents dreaming of cricket teams, this could mean batting on a sticky wicket. The government hopes this will encourage smaller families and more efficient use of resources.
Critics, however, are already calling this move “Kalank on Parenthood.” To add to the spice, Sitharaman clarified, “Hum yeh nahi keh rahe ki bacche paida na karo, par limit mein raho!”
India’s middle-class mummies and papas are in utter turmoil. Rajni, a mother of three from Delhi, said to farzi news reporters criticizing Nirmala ji, “Tu kya mujhe maar dalna chahta hai? Main to bacchon ka fees nahi bhar pa rahi, ab yeh naye tax kaun bharega?”
On the other hand, the single and ready-to-mingle millennials are rejoicing. Memes have surfaced showing young couples saying, “Pehle shaadi mat karo bolte the, ab tax badha ke logon ko bhagana chahte hai!”
Meanwhile, business tycoon Ramesh Poddar gave a more practical viewpoint: “Bacchon par tax lagana acha hai, par pehle potholes aur traffic ka tax toh ban karo!”
Destination wedding planners are on cloud nine after hearing this news. Farzi News caught up with Farzi Global, a renowned destination wedding planning company, to get their views.
They said, “Aap shaadi India ke bahar kariye, bachhe bhi wahin kariye aur settle ho jaiye. Par yeh news madam tak nahi pahunchni chahiye, nahi toh wedding mein pehli guest sarkar hi hogi!”
What’s next? A Bachelorhood Benefit Tax for not contributing to the population? Twitterati is already imagining bizarre scenarios where people could barter baby names to avoid taxes.
As India deals with the idea of being taxed for loving their offspring, the scene is set for a showdown between policymakers and the aam aadmi. One can almost hear the quintessential villainous laugh of the taxman in the background. And as in any good Hindi daily soap, the story ends with a question mark:
“Kya yeh nayi policy desh ko behtar banayegi ya ek naye nuksaan ka karan banegi?”
Stay tuned for the next episode of Population Control – Naye Bharat Ki Kahani.
